ALA PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” (Proverbs 9:10) We believe that a truly complete education is founded on the Word of God and is subject to the truths expressed in it. Through it, the Holy Spirit will work spiritual growth and understanding in each student, including the ability to discern among the philosophies of the world in the light of the Scripture. It is these Scriptures that are “able to make us wise for salvation.” (2 Timothy 3:15)

At Arizona Lutheran Academy our educational goal is to develop students who advocate for their own learning and develop a life-long love of learning. We believe that our roles as teachers are to act as a guide, to recognize and develop individual unique gifts, and to provide a safe environment in which students may practice their skills and take risks in their learning. In keeping with 21st-century learning theory, our students must have the opportunity to engage in critical thinking, technological application, creativity, communication, and collaboration, all while exercising their Christian character. Our classrooms must be rich in the reading of high-level text while nurturing solid, analytical writing skills. Further they will include a common demonstration of highly engaged and hands-on learning and cooperative projects with fellow students, and where possible, will allow their curiosity to drive their learning.

ACCREDITATION

Founded in 1978, Arizona Lutheran Academy is fully accredited through Cognia, a non-profit, non-governmental organization that accredits primary and secondary schools throughout the United States and internationally. This process includes a comprehensive review of school operations to ensure that improvements are constantly being made and that a student’s experience here will be of the best quality.
