GOLF CLASSIC RECAP
The ALA Golf Classic was an amazing day for celebrating our student-athletes. A record number of 156 golfers enjoyed pristine golf conditions and phenomenal weather as we collaborated to raise over $20,000 for our athletic program! Congratulations to Monte Yazzie (ALA 2000) who was awarded the 2022 Rick Smith Injury Prevention Award by Indian Health Service. From 2016-2020, unintentional injuries were the third leading cause of death for all ages. This issue is even more impactful among the Arizona (AZ) American Indian / Alaskan Native (AI/AN) population where unintentional injuries are leading cause of death for all ages. SCHOOL BEGINS
We were blessed to begin our 45th school year on August 10 with our Opening Service and the installation of four new teachers. View photos. Candace Green, ALA 1999, made the news by taking 40 virtual field trips with her art class, but now that class is back in-person, she's dedicating her time to painting murals around town with students and their families. So far, they've painted five murals. Read the story on ABC 15.
